Broncos winning streak ended by Americans

The Swift Current Broncos five-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Tri-City Americans.

The Broncos took the lead 8:15 into regulation when Luke Mistelbacher found a puck near the crease and deposited his 14th goal of the season. The Americans took advantage of a turnover late in the first period when Savin Virk scored his first goal.

The Americans took the lead 5:07 into the second period with a Jackson Smith goal on the rush.

Gavin Garland scored into an empty net late in regulation to close the scoring.

Reid Dyck made 42 saves to fall to 8-6-0-0 for the Broncos. Lucas Matecha made 33 saves to improve to 12-3-1-0

The Broncos fell to 13-7-0-0, while Tri-City improved to 14–5–1-0.

The Broncos will return to action on Friday when they host the Regina Pats and then return the visit on Saturday.
