Broncos double up visiting Pats

The Swift Current Broncos won their second game in as many days with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Regina Pats on Saturday.

The Broncos scored the only goal of the first period when Brady Birnie scored only eight seconds into a four-minute power play for his 13th goal of the season.

The Broncos doubled the lead midway through the second period when Connor Gabriel’s shot trickled through the five-hole for his fourth goal to cap off a hard-working shift. The Broncos added to lead late in the period when a puck found Clarke Caswell and he calmly deposited into the open net for his fifth goal of the season.

The Pats made a game of late with a Tanner Howe shorthanded goal, but Eric Johnston scored into an empty net on the power play for the Broncos. Brayden Smith added a goal in the final minute for the Pats.

Joey Rocha made 37 saves to improve to 4-1-0-0. Kelton Pyne made 28 saves to fall 4–5-1-0.

The Broncos improved to 10-6-0-0, while Regina fell to 5–8-1-0.
