Broncos stomp Raiders on the road

The Swift Current Broncos used a pair of four-goal periods to defeat the host Prince Albert Raiders 9-4 on Friday.

Brady Birnie led the Broncos with three goals and one assist, while captain Clarke Caswell recorded two goals and three assists in a rare road win for the Broncos.

The Broncos took control of the game with two first-period goals from Birnie and singles from Caswell and Sawyer Dingman.

The Raiders got second-period goals from Aiden Oiring and Ty Meunier, but the Broncos replied with goals from Eric Johnston, Birnie, and a pair from Carlin Dezainde.

The Raiders cut into the lead again in the third period with a Brayden Dube goal and then Niall Crocker scored to move the score to 8-4. Caswell quickly restored the five-goal lead with a power play goal to close the scoring.

Reid Dyck earned the win with 29 saves. Max Hildebrand took the loss with 19 saves on 25 shots over 28:14. Cooper Anderson made 14 saves on 17 shots in relief.

The Broncos improved their road record to 2-4 in the win. They moved to 9-6-0-0 overall, while Prince Albert fell to 4-8-2-0.

The Broncos will host the Regina Pats on Saturday.
