A trio of Southwest athletes and coaches were recognized with provincial hardware for their achievements over the past year from Saskatchewan Athletics.
Kyle’s Olivia Dyrland was named the U16 Female Field Bob Adam’s Foundation Award recipient. Dyrland competed at the U16 Tri-Provincial Meet and placed sixth in Shot Put, third in Discus, third in Hammer Throw, and second in Javelin.
She also took part in the National U16 Championship and was 11th in Shot Put and third in Discus.
Dyrland won silver in the Hammer Throw at the Saskatchewan Summer Games and won silver in Discus as well.
Swift Current’s Kyler Duclos was a double winner at the awards banquet, beginning with the U16 Male Track Award. Duclos placed third in the U16 Tri-Provincial Meet in the 100 Metre Dash. He also placed fifth in the 100 Metres at the U16 National Championship.
Duclos won gold medals in both the 100 Metre Dash and the 200 Metre Dash at SHSAA Provincials. He also won gold in the 100 Metres at the Saskatchewan Summer Games.
Duclos also won the U16 Male Athlete Field Award for his outstanding results in Long Jump and Triple Jump. He won bronze in the Long Jump and Triple Jump at U16 Nationals. Duclos won both events at SHSAA Provincials and at the Saskatchewan Summer Games.
Swift Current’s Mandi Tuplin was named Female Coach of the Year and won a Coaching Excellence Award for coaching a national medallist. Tuplin, the longtime coach of the SCCHS Colts and Ardens track and field team, was also the coach of Team Southwest at the Saskatchewan Summer Games and led Team Sask at Legion Nationals.
