U18 AAA Wildcats split opening weekend with Bears

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats split a weekend road trip to Prince Albert to open the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League regular season over the weekend.

Saturday, the Wildcats lost 3-1 on a single goal from Raela Packet with assists from Rayna Hennie and Alexa Kobley.

Jersie Andersen, Zoey Krienke, and Londyn Hoffman replied for the Northern Bears.

Jordyn Ottenbreit took the loss with 40 saves on 43 shots. Annika Neufeldt earned the win with 29 saves.

Sunday, the Wildcats rebounded with a 3-2 win. They trailed 2-1 after two period before Jade Thompson and Charlize Hillmer scored in the third period. Reece Hawkins had scored to give the Wildcats a first-period lead.

Dior Stringer, Alexa Kobley, Kyla Benjamin, and Kaylee Williams all picked up assists. Ashley Vezeau made 21 saves in the win.

The Wildcats will host the Saskatoon Stars (2-0) on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
