Swift Current Fire Department crews were dispatched to a structure fire on the 400 block of Central Avenue North at 7:02 p.m. on August 14.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke and flames in the rear of the structure. Firefighters contained the primary fire quickly, despite facing some obstacles with the fire that had breached the roof space. Salvage and overhaul operations were performed. Heavy structural and content damage took place in the incident, but no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Numerous pets were returned to the owners during the incident.
A total of 6 Swift Current Fire Department vehicles responded to the incident, involving 12 Career and 5 Auxiliary members. The RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, and City Light & Power also responded to the incident.
The cause is currently under investigation.
