Six Southwest golfers took part in a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event at the Estevan Woodlawn Golf Course on May 11-12.
Makstr McIntyre led the Southwest contingent in second spot out of 23 golfers in the Junior Boys Division. The Swift Current golfer shot a 78 on day one and then improved by five strokes to 73 on day two to finish only two strokes behind Brandon’s Zostrianos Giodani-Gross.
Swift Current’s Ryder Woods tied for ninth in Junior Boys. He shot a 77 on day one and an 80 on day two.
Kyle’s Chloe Wills finished third in the 15-19 Girls Division. She had rounds of 82 and 81 to finish 10 shots off the lead. Ella Kozak (Yorkton) won the division by seven shots (72, 81).
Swift Current’s Ayden Ross placed fifth in the Juvenile Boys Division in Estevan. Ross carded a 79 on day one and then replicated his score with another 79 to finish eight shots off the leader. Casa Rio’s Ethan Hunter won the division by three shots (73, 77).
Kyle’s Jace Wills also placed fifth in the Bantam Boys Division. He carded rounds of 79 and 81. Lucas Sturgeon (Saskatoon) won the division by two strokes with rounds of 75 and 70. Shaunavon’s Colten Cruthers shot a 111 in his only round at the Woodlawn.
The MJT will make a stop at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club in Swift Current on May 18-20.
