Rhett Vavra and Nixen Voll made major contributions to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a 40-6 win over the rival University of Regina Rams on Sept. 8.
Vavra, a Swift Current native, caught three touchdowns as he finished with 130 yards on six catches. He also added four punt returns for 28 yards. He helped put the game out of reach in the first half with consecutive touchdown receptions of 15, 29, and 36 yards in front of a sold out crowd at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
The third-year Huskie now has four touchdowns and 184 yards receiving for the 2-0 Huskies.
Voll, a fifth-year defensive back from Shaunavon, had one interception, one solo tackle, and three assisted tackles as the Huskies held the Rams to 247 yards of total offense.
The Huskies will host the 2-0 University of Alberta Golden Bears on Friday.
