The Swift Current U15 Sonic softball team travelled to Medicine Hat on Monday night for a double-header against the Medicine Hat Thunder.
The first game of the two game set was played in extremely windy conditions and the Sonic found a way to sneak out a 12-8 win, scoring seven runs in the last two innings.
Bailey Fox went four-for-four at the plate with three runs batted in. Eden Larson, Surrey Lamotte, Mackenzie Smith, Brynn Haubrich, and Serena Kochan all had multi-hit games.
Starting pitcher Bree Pavely pitched two innings, giving up two runs and striking out four. Smith pitched four innings in relief giving up six runs and striking out five.
The second game, played under the lights in very calm weather conditions, saw the Sonic get solid pitching and stellar defense to complete the sweep with a 15-0 win.
Tayor Schury and Kochan led the way with three hits each. Smith was credited with four RBI and Pavely found her way on to base with one hit and three walks.
Pavely again was the starting pitcher and gave no runs on four hits while striking out five. Smith came in for one inning, striking out two batters.
The U15 Sonic wrapped up league, exhibition and tournament play with a record of 18-4-1.
This weekend the Sonic head to Warman for the 29-team Softball Saskatchewan U15B Provincial Championships. The Sonic start the tournament Friday morning against the Prince Albert Aces. Their final two round-robin games take place on Saturday against the Regina Lazers and the Yorkton Crush.
