The Swift Current U15 Sonic travelled to Moose Jaw on Friday for a doubleheader against the Moose Jaw Ice.
Sonic pitchers struggled with their consistency on the the mound and a few untimely errors by the Sonic resulted in some unearned runs for the Ice. The back and forth game ended after seven innings with a tie score 13-13.
The Sonic played a much better second game under the lights against the Ice scoring three runs in the top of the first to hold a 3-0 lead after two innings. The offense came alive for the Sonic in innings three, four, and five as they scored three runs, four runs and seven runs to finish off the Ice by a margin of 17-2.
Mackenzie Smith, Bailey Fox and Lyla Thiessen led the Sonic offensively as all three had multi-hit games in both games Friday night. Bree Pavely got the win on the mound in game two giving up two runs in four innings of work.
The Sonic currently sit with a record of 14-2-1. The U15 Sonic has a busy two weeks as they prepare for the Softball Saskatchewan Provincials with double-headers in Gravelbourg against the South Central Venom, a double header in Battleford against the Battleford Bandits and two games in Redcliff, Alberta against the Medicine Hat Thunder.
