The Canadian Cowboys Association rodeo circuit returned to the Southwest on June 10-11 in Lancer where a pair of Southwest cowboys won events at the Sandhills Rodeo.
Maple Creek’s Ryan Livingstone had the only two qualified rides to win Bareback. He totalled 73 points on Mistake for $643 and added 72 points on Tall & Dark for $526.
Maple Creek’s Kahl Wasilow added a win in Novice Bull Riding with a 78-point ride for $312.
Swift Current’s Keith Folk finished second in Tie Down Roping in 10.6 seconds for $583. Maple Creek’s William Beierbach tied for sixth in 11.7 seconds for $60. Jesse Popescul (Glentworth) won the event in 9.5 seconds.
William and Tate Beierbach were both in the top four in Steer Wrestling. William Beierbach placed second in 5.9 seconds for $561. Tate Beierbach was fourth in 8.1 seconds for $327. Riley Hayes (Sylvania) won the event in 5.8 seconds.
Val Marie’s Colt Kornfeld and Kade Christianson (Nanton, AB) combined to tie for second in Team Roping in 6.1 seconds for $1,277. Clay Ellis (Sonnindale) and Denver Van Metre (Paradise Hill) won the event in 6.0 seconds.
Swift Current’s Madison Kovar was second in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.9 seconds for $734. Ashley Weber (Carlyle) won the event in 2.3 seconds.
Maple Creek’s Cody Lane finished third in Saddle Bronc after riding Trail Boss for 68 points and $306. Cameron Lang (Tomahawk, AB) won the event with 71 points on Dusty Day.
Hazenmore’s Tess Switzer placed third in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 16.19 seconds for $144. Maple Creek’s Chloe Stokke was right behind her in fourth spot in 16.20 seconds for $72. Drake Kollins won the event in 15.72 seconds.
Ty Ellis won Bull Riding with 86 points on All In. Bailey McCannell top the Ladies Barrel Racing field in 15.24 seconds. Davis Young added a win in Junior Steer Riding with a 70-point ride. Lonnie Dunn (Big River) won Novice Saddle Bronc with a 69-point ride in Lancer.
There will be CCA events in Radville, Pilot Butte, and Coutts, AB this weekend.
The Dean Anthony Memorial Rodeo will be held June 24-25 in Mankota. The Frontier Days Rodeo will follow in Swift Current on June 29 – July 1.
