The Swift Diamond Energy Wildcats dropped game one of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League best-of-five semi-final series 5-2 to the host Saskatoon Stars Friday.
Special teams played a major role in the game as the Stars scored twice on four man-advantages, while the Wildcats were held without a goal on three power play opportunities.
The first-place Stars got goals Joelle Fiala, Grace Shirley, Jordan Gerlitz, Mackenna Parker, and Jayda Sachs, while Jordan Ivanco made 21 saves in goal.
Janessa Fournier and Chloe Smith each had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, while Carissa Hogan added an assist. Harper Davey took the loss with 21 saves on 26 shots.
Game two will be played back in Swift Current on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Fairview Arena.
