Sumner wins Circle K Classic with SAHA

Brayden Sumnner won the Circle K Classic in Calgary with the South Alberta Hockey Academy on Sunday. SAHA defeated the Calgary Buffaloes 6-0 to win the 32-team U18 AAA tournament, formerly know as the Mac’s World Invitational.

SAHA won all six games in Calgary, including a 4-1 semi-final victory over the Burlington Eagles and a 4-0 quarter-final win over Yale Hockey Academy, when Sumner picked up an assist. He also had an assist in a 4-2 win over the Saskatoon Blazers to open the tournament on Dec. 27.

The Tompkins product has three goals and seven assists in 20 league games with the SAHA U18 Prep team this season. SAHA are currently second out of 19 teams in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League with a 14-4-0-2 record.

Sumner last played in Saskatchewan in 2020-21 on the Swift Current Abbey Resources U18 AA Broncos in the covid shortened season.
