The Southwest had four event winners at the Ag Society Rodeo on June 24-26 in Arrowwood, AB.
Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist won Saddle Bronc with 84 points on Dusty Trail for $890 at the Canadian Cowboys Association event.
Val Marie’s Riley Hayes added a win in Steer Wrestling in 4.5 seconds to collect $648. Gilchrist was also fifth in Steer Wrestling in 9.2 seconds for $216.
A pair of Maple Creek cowboys were in the Junior Steer Riding pay window. Kahl Wasilow won the event with 76 points for $587. Walker Thomson placed fourth with 72 points for $283.
Kate Beierbach, also riding out of Maple Creek, won Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 15.52 seconds for $548. Mankota’s Kiera Williamson was fourth in 16.0 seconds for $264.
Eastend’s Haley Glasrud was third in Ladies Barrel Racing in 15.55 seconds for $1,083. Waldeck’s Mallory Mayert was right behind her in fourth spot in 15.63 seconds for $892. Mankota’s Karlie Cowie placed eighth in 15.71 seconds for $127. Angela Tapp (Regina) won the event in 15.44 seconds.
Consul’s Rylan and Braden Brost placed fourth in Team Roping in 6.0 seconds for $1,179. Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod and Devin Wigemyr (Brooks) tied for fifth in 7.0 seconds for $589.
The CCA is in Swift Current this week for the Frontier Day Rodeo beginning Thursday at 5 p.m.
