
The Swift Current rink of Kelsey Waker advanced all the way to the final on home ice at Women’s Club Provincials on March 6-8.
They placed second in the round robin with a 3-2 record. Waker opened the six-team event with a 7-6 loss to North Battelfords’ Kristi Frolek. They rebounded with a 9-6 win over Saskatoon Rebecca Ryde and a 6-5 win over Saskatoon’s Ellen Redlick. They lost 7-3 to Swift Current’s Hillary Sauder on Saturday evening. They wrapped up the round robin with a 7-6 win over Saskatoon’s Allison McMillan on Sunday morning.
They advanced to the final with a 7-5 win over Redlick in the playoffs. Waker lost 9-3 to McMillan in the final.
The Men’s Club Provincials, also held in Swift Current, featured 23 teams.
The Clayton Wicks rink, featuring third Ken Koster, second Scott Robertson, and lead Greg Moffat made a playoff appearance on home ice. They advanced through the A Event with a 9-6 win over Swift Current’s Cole Wiebe, an 8-4 win over Prince Albert’s Jordan Henry, and a 7-6 victory over Humboldt’s Aaron Gaudreau. They were eliminated in a 7-4 loss to Regina’s Sheldon Obst on Saturday afternoon.
The Cole Wiebe rink finished with one win and three losses on home ice.
The Jesse St. John rink just missed the playoffs with three wins and two losses at home.
The Scott Rumple rink lost all three games.
The Brendan Ross rink finished with two wins and three losses.
Foam Lake’s Garrett Fedak defeated Obst 8-4 in the final on Sunday evening.
