The Swift Current Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos swept the Regina Monarchs in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Broncos won their playoff opener 4-2 over the visiting Monarchs on Wednesday.
The third-seeded Broncos got goals from four different skaters and 28 saves from Bryson Bochek to take the lead in the best-of-three series. Ty Gleim had a goal and an assist, while Carter Bleau and Burke Hargrave both had two assists. Maddex Floberg, Damon James, and Waylan Peno also scored. Luke Mitchell and Damien Girardin added assists.
Nash Tomchuk and Kalder Price replied for Regina. Nixon Wright made 32 saves in the loss.
They closed out the series with a 5-4 overtime win on Saturday in Regina. Nixon Dirk scored the series winning goal 11:20 into overtime.
James led the Broncos with two goals and one assist. Gleim added one goal and one assist. Jack Tsougrianis also scored. Girardin and Chad Logan both had two assists, while Luke Mitchell added a single helper. Bochek made 26 saves in the win.
The Broncos will now face the Regina Pat Blues in the second round, beginning Thursday in Regina. Game two will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the InnovationPlex. Game three would be Sunday in Regina.
