
The Swift Current Broncos were no match for the Prince George Cougars on Friday in a 6-2 loss.
The Broncos opened the scoring with Brendan Rudolph’s 15th goal of the season 7:47 into regulation as he got behind the Cougars defense and scored with a top corner shot. The Cougars tied the game at the 15:17 mark when Brock Souch scored his 22nd goal of the season on a perfect pass from Dmitri Yukutsenak.
The Cougars took the lead 1:32 into the middle stanza with a Yukutsenak goal. They quickly added a Souch goal from a bad angle into the top corner to make it 3-1. A defensive zone turnover turned into a Taris Parascak goal only 12 seconds later. The Cougars added to the lead with another Parascak goal, which ended the night for Archer Cooke after 28:33.
The Cougars added to the lead again in the third period when Aiden Foster struck for his 11th goal. The Broncos closed the scoring when Carter Moen converted his own rebound on the power play for his sixth goal.
The Broncos fell to 13-36–3-3, while Prince George improved to 33-20-2-0.
Cooke made 19 saves to fall to 3-8-2-2. Aiden Eskit made 25 saves on 26 shots over the final 31:21. Alexander Levshyn made 15 saves to improve to 8-8-2-0.
The Broncos will visit the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday.
