Broncos drop third straight shootout

The Swift Current Broncos lost in a shootout for the third time in four days in a chaotic 7-6 loss to the host Regina Pats on Monday afternoon.

The Broncos led 3-0 in the first period and 6-3 in the second period, but allowed the Pats to score three straight goals to tie the game twice. 

Hudson Darby, Jaxen Gauchier, and Sawyer Dingman all scored in the shootout, but the Pats scored on their final four attempts, concluding with a Zachary Lansard goal to steal the win. 

The Broncos led 3-0 on early goals from Trae Wilke, Gauchier, and Daxon Yerex with his first WHL goal. The Pats quickly tied the game with goals from Lansard, Cohen Klassen, and Keets Fawcett. 

The Broncos regained the three-goal fusion with goals from Zach Pantelakis, Trae Johnson, and Darby. The Pats replied again with goals from Liam Pue, Caden Brown, and Maddox Schultz. 

Archer Cooke allowed three goals on six shots over the opening 10:40. Aiden Eskit relieved him and allowed three goals on 14 shots. Cooke returned and made 15 saves on 15 shots. 

The Broncos improved to 13-35-3-3. The Pats moved into seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 20-26-6-1 record.

The Broncos will host the Prince George Cougars on Friday.
