The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires split a two-game weekend against the host Saskatoon Contacts.
The Legionnaires opened the weekend with a 5-1 win on Saturday when they finished two-for-three on the power play and killed off their only shorthanded situation.
Cade Mitchell earned the win with 23 saves on 24 shots. Kasey Gleim led the Legionnaires with two goals and one assist, while Hunter Wilm assisted on three goals. Defenseman Jake Hargrave added one goal and one assist.
Rory Dewar and Porter Nickason also scored. Liam VanCaeseele, Mason Fauser, and Jaxson Squires added assists.
Charlie Kay scored the lone goal for the Contacts, while Felix Derksen made 30 saves on 35 shots.
Sunday, the Legionnaires dropped the rematch 3-2 after taking the lead with a pair of VanCaeseele goals. Carter Schmidt, Fauser, Hargrave, and Mitchell picked up assists. Mitchell made 17 saves in the loss.
Austin Schafer scored twice for the Contacts, while Dilin Coulter-Suttie also scored. Addy Price made 33 saves for the Contacts.
The Legionnaires sat fifth in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League with a 24-13-4-0 record.
The Legionnaires will visit the last-place Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday.
