SWAC SENIOR BASKETBALL LEAGUES
On January 13, the host Maple Creek boys defeated Herbert 55-46. Top scorers from Maple Creek: Natowa Whitefish 25 points, Carson Watson and Sean Delbario 6 pts each. Top scorers from Herbert: Kashton Giraudier 15 pts, Lloyd Packet 13 pts, Ty Dueck 12 pts.
Gull Lake boys travelled to Frontier and were on the losing end of a 74-68 score. Top scores for Frontier: Benharr Garcia – 41 pts, Don Garcia – 21 pts. Top scorers for Gull Lake: Carter Blanke – 24 pts, Tavares Nelson – 15 pts.
Shaunavon boys played at home versus Vanguard. The hometown Shadows notched their second league win by a score of 74-56. Top scorers for Shaunavon: Carson Smith – 40 pts, Wook Jeong – 18 pts. Top scorers for Vanguard: David Thiessen – 35 pts, Adam Guenther – 14 pts.
The Shaunavon senior girls were also on their home court against Herbert. The Shaunavon girls beat Herbert girls 74-31. Top Scorers: Shaunavon: Jolie Christensen – 18 pts. Herbert: Addy Forsyth – 10 pts.
It was an all SCCHS match up on January 14. The SCCHS Red team beat SCCHS Blue in their first head-to-head league game.
Upcoming games on January 20: Herbert boys host Frontier and Herbert girls host SCCHS Blue in a double set of games, Vanguard boys will travel to Gull Lake, and Shaunavon will host Maple Creek boys. The Shaunavon girls will host SC Red that same night.
SWAC JUNIOR BASKETBALL
The junior games in Maple Creek on January 15 (Shaunavon attending) were cancelled due to weather conditions. These teams hope to meet up again on January 22.
MOOSE JAW BASKETBALL LEAGUE
The SCCHS Senior Colts next league action is January 23 at Notre Dame. The Ardens don’t play another league game until February 3.
The Colts are in second place in the Moose Jaw league with a 3-1 record and the Ardens are in first place with a perfect 3-0 record.
