Broncos earn road point

The Swift Current Broncos got a road point with a 4-3 overtime loss to the host Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday.

The Broncos held three separate leads, but the Hurricanes tied the game each time before Luke Cozens scored the overtime winner on the power play only 24 seconds into the extra period. 

The Broncos took the lead with Jayden Oleskiw’s first Western Hockey League goal 2:53 into regulation. Owen Berge tied the game, but Trae Wilke restored the lead with his ninth goal. Will Scott tied the game again late in the first period.

Wilke scored 5:32 into the second period to give the Broncos a third lead. Kai Anderson scored the only goal of the third period to force overtime.

Archer Cooke made 24 saves for the Broncos in his second WHL game. Leif Oaten made 31 saves for the Hurricanes. 

The Broncos fell to 8-26-2-0 with their 16th straight loss, while Lethbridge improved to 12-25-0-1. The two teams will rematch on Saturday in Swift Current.
