Broncos waive veteran goaltender

The Swift Current Broncos waived veteran goaltender Joey Rocha on Wednesday.

The overage netminder had an 8-16-0-0 record this season with a 5.02 goals against average and an .872 save percentage.

The Nanaimo, BC native was a fifth-round pick in 2020. He posted a 39-42-1-3 record in 97 regular season Western Hockey League games.

The move leaves the Broncos with rookie Aiden Eskit and newcomer Archer Cooke, who made his WHL debut on Tuesday. The Broncos have allowed a WHL leading 184 goals in 35 games so far this season.

The Broncos will visit the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday as they look to end a 15-game losing streak.
