Another loaded international curling field will be in Swift Current next week for the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown on Dec. 11-15
The men’s event will feature 24 teams from across Canada, as well as Switzerland, Czechia, Scotland, Italy, the United States, and Norway.
Scotland’s Bruce Mouat, the reigning world champion and number one ranked team in the world, will highlight the men’s field.
The men’s event will begin on Thursday at 8 a.m.
The Women’s event includes teams from Canada, Italy, Denmark, Japan, Korea, Scotland, Japan, Switzerland, China, and Sweden. It is a 20-team event with four pools of five teams. Eight teams will advance to the playoffs.
On the women’s side, four-time world champion Silvana Tirinzoni will lead her Swiss rink at the Western Showdown.
The women’s event will begin on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
A number of the teams in attendance have already qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Event organizer Chris Haichert noted that 12 of the 16 teams from the Olympic field will be in Swift Current for the largest World Curling Tour event in the world.
The men’s and women’s playoffs begin on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The championship finals are set for Sunday at 6 p.m.
