The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires ran into the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League’s top team on Thursday and lost 10-3 to the host Regina Pat Canadians.
The Pat Canadians scored the opening four goals and led 5-1 after one period. The Legionnaires won the second by a 2-1 margin, but the Pats scored four unanswered goals in the final stanza.
Regina finished three-for-five on the power play, while the Legionnaires were held without a goal on three man-advantages.
Trae Peterson led the Legionnaires with two goals to extend his goal streak to eight games. Liam VanCaeseele scored the other goal for the visitors. Jake Hargave, Hudson Postnikoff, Porter Nickason, and Finn Gustafson all added assists.
Cade Mitchell made eight saves on 11 shots over 18:10. Josh Benjamin made 18 saves on 25 shots over 41:50.
Adam Muntain made 37 saves for the Pat Canadians. Ethan Young led the Pat Canadians with five assists, while Grady Hodgins registered two goal and two assists.
The Legionnaires fell to 14-6-2-0, while Regina improved to 18-2-1-0.
The Legionnaires will host the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the InnovationPlex.
