The Swift Current 57’s announced Jared Franklin as their new Head Coach and General Manager.

“The experience that Jared had was second to none in terms of the people that we interviewed. We really liked how he presented how he was going to work with the young guys and his connections to some of the schools in the States,” said 57’s President Jamie LeBlanc. “It was almost a no-brainer in a way. To be honest, for me I really like the fact that he is in Saskatchewan. He’s able to come and be an actual living human being right at this press release, which I think is an important thing. I think that is going to help a lot with our community engagement. I thought it improved last year with that, but this to me also just helps that we’re on the right path.”

Franklin said he will lean on his 26 years of coaching experience, including 14 years at the collegiate level.

“I have learned from some good coaches over the years with what summer ball is. I do try and run summer ball like short season pro ball, which essentially is that everybody is kind of playing, especially early on. Guys are getting their reps, their timing… I have coached every position over the years with the exception of catcher. I’ve worked with Division I pitchers and outfielders, infielders. I think I can bring some of the knowledge to these guys now.”

Most recently, Franklin served as Head Coach of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, where he launched a new NAIA baseball program in 2022. His experience also includes coaching roles at Fordham University as well as positions at Lake Erie College and with the Madison Miners in the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate League.

Franklin takes over from Ruddy Estrella, who guided the 57’s to a 10-45 season in the Western Major Baseball League in 2025.
