The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats remain at the .500 mark after another split weekend in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League against the visiting Weyburn Gold Wings.
Saturday, the Wildcats opened the weekend with a 5-1 win when they scored three power play goals. Stevie Christiaens led the Wildcats with a hat trick, while Laynee Rondeau and Raela Packet both had three assists.
Jalaa Moore Jagow and Ella Schenher also scored. Emily McCleary, Madden Rublee, and Charlize Hilmer added assists. Emilee Klapak made 19 saves on 20 shots in the win.
Maci Patterson made 35 saves for the Gold Wings. Maicy Groenewegen scored the only Weyburn goal.
Sunday, the Wildcats allowed three unanswered goals in a 3-2 loss to the Gold Wings. Jagow scored twice in the first period with assists from McCleary and Piper Arntsen.
The Gold Wings tied the game in the second period with two goals from Harper Danchilla and then took the lead with a shorthanded goal from Liv Peck.
The Wildcats failed to scored on seven man-advantages in the loss.
Tila Boyd led Weyburn with 34 saves on 36 shots. Ashley Vezeau made 18 saves in the loss.
The Wildcats finished the weekend in fourth spot with a 2-2-0-0 record. Weyburn improved to 2-3-0-0 in fifth spot in the seven-team league.
The Wildcats will visit the Regina Rebels on Wednesday.
