The Swift Current Sonic won bronze at U17 B Girls Softball Provincials in Rosthern over the weekend.

The Sonic won game one 11-1 over the East Central Wolverines when they scored seven runs in the opening inning to take control of the game. Kyra Strutt struck out six batters over three innings in the win. Bree Pavely pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Serena Kochan singled, doubled, walked, scored twice, and had two runs batted in out of the leadoff spot. Anaiah Stechyshen singled twice, stole two bases, scored three runs, and added one RBI. Surrey Lamotte singled, tripled, scored, and added two RBIs.

The Sonic followed up with a 9-0 win over the Regina Royals when they outhit the Royals 13-3. Pavely earned the win as she struck out six and allowed three hits and no walks over 4.2 innings before Mackenzie Smith got the final out.

Kochan doubled during a three-hit outing, scored twice, and added one RBI. Lyla Thiessen singled twice, stole two bases, scored, and knocked one run home. Stechyshen singled twice, scored twice, and had three RBIs. Smith singled, tripled, scored, and had one RBI. Lamotte singled twice, stole two bases, and scored twice. Strutt singled twice, stole a base, scored, and had one RBI.

Saturday, the Sonic scored in all four innings to defeat the Saskatoon Selects Storm 16-0 in four innings. Smith got the complete game win, striking out 11 with only three hits and one walk allowed.

Kochan tripled, doubled, singled twice, stole a base, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Pavely singled twice, scored twice, and knocked home two runs. Smith singled twice, walked, scored, and had two RBIs. Strutt hit a home run, walked, stole a base, scored twice and had two RBIs. Stechyshen doubled, walked, stole two bases, scored twice, and added one RBI. Patience Hellman singled, walked twice, stole a base, and scored three runs.

The Sonic closed out the round robin with a 14-4 win over the Prince Albert Aces. Strutt earned the win as she struck out five over three innings.

Pavely led the offense with four hits, including a double, scored twice, and had one RBI. Kochan doubled during a three-hit outing, stole a base, scored twice, and knocked one run home. Stechyshen singled twice, stole two bases, scored twice, and had two RBIs. Strutt had three singles and two runs scored. Thiessen singled twice, stole two bases, scored twice, and added three RBIs.

The Sonic opened the playoffs with a 13-3 win over the Estevan Elite on Sunday morning. Pavely earned the complete game win, striking out four over four innings.

Pavely singled, walked twice, scored twice, and had one RBI. Thiessen singled, walked twice, stole three bases, scored twice, and knocked one run home. Brynn Haubrich doubled and scored.

The Sonic were defeated 14-4 in the semi-final by the Macklin Lakers when they were outhit 10-5 and walked 13 batters.

Stechyshen led the Sonic with two singles, a run scored and one RBI. Smith had a double, a sacrifice fly, and two RBIs.

The Sonic rebounded with a 14-0 win over the Valley Vipers to win bronze. They scored four runs in the first and second innings and then added six more in the third inning.

Pavely earned the shutout win as she struck out five over four innings, allowing only three hits and two walks. At the plate, she had three hits, including a double, a walk and three runs scored.

Thiessen doubled, singled twice, scored twice, and knocked home three runs. Lamotte singled, walked twice, scored, and had three RBIs.

The Sonic finished the season with a 23-8-2 record.
