Kyle’s Chloe Wills and Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess led the Southwest contingent at the 2025 Saskatchewan Junior Championship at the Lloydminster Golf and Country Club.
Chloe Wills placed third overall in Junior Women’s, eight shots back of Saskatoon’s Grace Odnokon (83-75-80). She finished second in the U19 Division, two shots behind Regina’s Tayla Perry. Wills led the tournament after one day with an 80 on Tuesday. She repeated that score of 80 in the second round and then carded an 86 on the final day.
Swift Current’s Niya Friesen placed seventh overall in Junior Womens and was fourth in the U19 Division. Friesen carded an 89 on day one and then improved to an 85 in the second round. She finished the event with an 85 on Thursday.
Kayden Meyer finished 16th in Junior Womens and fourth in the U15 Division. Meyer carded a 101 on day one and then shot a 105 in the second round. She repeated her 105 on Thursday to conclude the event.
Matty Schmiess was the top finisher in the Junior Boys overall field. The Swift Current golfer placed fifth overall, eight shots back of the leader.
Schmiess opened with a 78 on Tuesday, but improved to a 71 on day two. He repeated his 78 in the final round to place third in the U17 Division.
Swift Current’s Ayden Ross tied for 29th overall. Ross started with an 80 in the opening round and followed up with an 85. He concluded the tournament with an 83.
Swift Current’s Ryder Woods also tied for 29th overall. Woods opened with an 85 in the opening round and then carded a 79 in the second round. He shot an 84 on the final day.
Swift Current’s Makstr McIntyre placed 36th overall. McIntyre opened provincials with an 82 and followed up with an 85. He carded an 88 in the final round.
Jace Wills tied for 53rd in Junior Boys. Wills, golfing out of the Sask Landing Golf Resort, carded a 92 on day one, followed by an 89 in the second round. He improved to an 85 in the final round to move up the leaderboard.
