Two Southwest event winners at Weyburn rodeo

There were two Southwest event winners at the Souris River Rodeo in Weyburn on July 4-5.

Morse’s Tuftin McLeod and Consul’s Braden Brost won Team Roping in 5.8 seconds for a $2,505 payday.

Swift Current’s Madison Kovar won Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.0 seconds for $1,200. Mankota’s Kiera Williamson was second in 2.4 seconds for $1,044. Eastend’s Tiara Armstrong tied for eighth in 3.1 seconds for $52.

Maple Creek’s Kate Beierbach placed second in Ladies Barrel Racing in 15.55 seconds for $1,224. Williamson was third in 15.61 seconds for $1,040. Armstrong finished eighth in 15.81 seconds for $122.

Kiera Williamson also finished second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 15.53 seconds for $391. Hazenmore’s Tess Switzer was third in 15.60 seconds for $261.

Maple Creek’s Cade Sanderson also placed second in Novice Bull Riding with 72 points for $324.

Chaplin’s Rhyker Vangen was fourth in Novice Saddle Bronc with 54 points for $67.

The Canadian Cowboys Association schedule includes the Wood Mountain Stampede this weekend.
