Kettles drafted by Penguins

Peyton Kettles was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. The Swift Current Broncos 6’6’’ defenseman was selected 39th overall by the Penguins in the second round of the NHL Draft on June 28.

Kettles, 17, had five goals and nine assists in 53 games with the Broncos last season. He registered two goals and 11 assists in 61 games during his rookie season in 2023-24. He also has four assists in 13 WHL playoff games.

The Winnipeg product will join former teammate Owen Pickering in the Penguins organization. Pickering was a first-round pick in 2022 and played 25 games with the Penguins last season during his first professional season.
