Arntsen wins Calder Cup with Canucks

Dinsmore’s Joe Arntsen won the Calder Cup during his professional season with the Abbotsford Canucks this week.

The Canucks clinched the American Hockey League title with a 3-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers on June 23. They had fallen behind by two goals before scoring three unanswered goals to win the sixth and deciding game for their first Calder Cup Championship.

The 6’3’’ defenseman appeared in two playoff games. He had skated in 10 regular season games with the Canucks with one goal and 10 penalty minutes.

Arntsen also suited up in 43 games with the Kalamazoo Wings, registering five goals and 11 assists in the ECHL during his rookie season. The former captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes finished his Western Hockey League career with 106 points in 268 regular season games after being drafted in the second round of the WHL Draft in 2018.
