The Swift Current 57’s will open the Western Canadian Baseball League regular season on Thursday when they visit the Regina Red Sox.
The 57’s and Red Sox will both play in the East Division, along with the Moose Jaw Miller Express, Weyburn Beavers, and Saskatoon Berries.
The 57’s will host the Medicine Hat Mavericks in their home opener on Friday and then host the Brooks Bombers on Saturday as well.
The 57’s roster includes Swift Current’s Ethan Bailey, who was a freshman at Garden City Community College this past season.
Swift Current’s Rydell Adair is one of four catchers on the roster after his red shirt freshman season with Bismark State.
Hometown favourite Brody Alexandre will be back in the infield this season. The 6’3’’ slugger hit five home runs and had 23 runs batted in over 35 games last season.
Among the returnees is outfielder Jose Ayala, who hit 11 home runs and added 35 RBIs in 51 games last season.
