World-class curling will return to Swift Current this week with the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown. The womens event begins Thursday with 20 teams competing for a $50,000 purse. The field is highlighted by Chelsea Carey, Kerri Einarsson, Kaitlyn Lawes, and Krista McCarville. The field also features entries from the United States, Switzerland, and Japan.

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won a pair of one-goal games over the host Estevan Chargers over the weekend.  The Legionnaires edged the Bears 2-1 on Saturday on goals from Mason Fauser and Kasey Gleim.
