Cody Eakin is heading home to join his fourth National Hockey League team. The former captain of the Swift Current Broncos was traded from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

The Golden Knights received a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft in exchange for the 28-year-old forward, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Eakin has four goals and six assists in 41 games this season, his third season with Vegas after being selected in the 2017 expansion draft from the Dallas Stars.

He was originally selected in the third round of the 2009 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. He now has 232 points in 578 regular season games and 19 points in 46 playoff games.

Eakin will reunite with Adam Lowry, himself a former Swift Current Broncos captain. The two played together in Swift Current during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons until Eakin was traded to the Kootenay Ice.
