The Swift Current Broncos were unable to prevent their losing streak from reaching double digits in a 5-1 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Friday.

The Chiefs opened the scoring only 1:32 when Luke Toporowski found the back of the net on a pretty two-on-one one-timer. The Broncos responded midway through the period when Hayden Ostir took advantage of a turnover and found the top corner for his seventh goal of the season.

The Chiefs put the game out of reach in the middle stanza when they fired 21 shots on goal and scored three goals. Adam Beckman, Michael King, and Ty Smith all found the back of the net for a 4-1 lead after two periods.

Reed Jacobson closed the scoring in the third period to complete his two-point outing during his first WHL game in his hometown rink.

Isaiah DiLaura fell to 4–8-0-2 with 49 saves. Lukáš Pařík improved to 17-7-2-0 with 31 saves.

The Broncos fell to 10-41-1-3, while Spokane improved to 34-18-4-1.
The Broncos will visit the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday as they look to snap their 10-game losing streak.

Bronco Bits: the game marked the return of head coach Manny Viveiros and defenseman Noah King, who both won a WHL championship with the Broncos in 2018. Locals Reed Jacobson and Mac Gross both played on their hometown ice as WHL players for the first time.
