Broncos snap losing streak in convincing fashion

It was a night of firsts for the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday in Prince George. Most importantly, the Broncos snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 7-2 win over the host Cougars.

Import Joona Kiviniemi notched his first career Western Hockey League hat trick to lead the Broncos to their first win on their five-game B.C. Division road trip. Kiviniemi also had an assist for his first four-point outing during his first multi-goal game.

Local product Hendrik de Klerk also notched his first WHL goal during a two-point outing. Overage forward Hayden Ostir registered his first goal with the Broncos. Matthew Culling and Aiden Bulych also scored for the Broncos. Ben King and Kasper Puutio each added three assists.

Isaac Poulter earned the win with 31 saves. Taylor Gauthier took the loss with eight saves on 11 shots over 23:21. Tyler Brennan allowed four goals on 15 shots over 36:39.

The Broncos improved to 3-6-1-2 with their first road win and first regulation victory, while Prince George fell to 3-7-0-1.

The Broncos will return home to host the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday.
