A quick glance at the Canadian Cowboys Association season standings shows a number of Southwest competitors near the top of their events as the battle for spots at the Finals continues with only four rodeos remaining in 2019.
Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist is currently third in the All Around standings, trailing only Colt Smith (Aldersyde, AB) and TJ Loeppky (Central Butte).
Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod leads the Canadian High Points Award race, followed by Tuftin McLeod in second and Mankota’s Shawn Williamson in fourth.
Tyce McLeod is the top ranked Heeler and Tuftin is the top ranked Header as the Finals quickly near.
Piapot’s Casey Bertram is the top Southwest cowboy in Saddle Bronc in fourth spot after competing in 23 rodeos thus far.
Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram leads the Southwest in Bareback in third spot.
Hazenmore’s Chanse Switzer looks well positioned to defend his 2018 Finals title as he sits fourth in the Bull Riding standings this season.
Williamson leads all Tie Down Roping competitors in 2019 as he heads for another Finals appearance.
Waldeck’s Tee McLeod is the top Southwest cowboy in Steer Wrestling in eighth spot.
Cadillac’s Brooke Lang also leads the Ladies Barrel Racing season standings.
Maple Creek’s James Perrin is currently atop the Junior Steer Riding standings. William Perrin also leads the Novice Saddle Bronc standings.
Cassidy Gordon, also riding out of Maple Creek, is currently third in the Junior Girls Barrel Racing standings.
Kyle’s Kade Chaney leads all Novice Bareback competitors as he rides towards the Finals.
The CCA Finals will take place on October 16-19 in Swift Current at the Innovation Credit Union iplex.
The next CCA rodeo is the Bob Larson Memorial in Val Marie on September 20-21.
