After a dominant couple months in Swift Current, 57’s closer Garrett Alexander will move on the professional ranks after signing with the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

Alexander led the Western Canada Baseball League with 12 saves during 19 regular season appearances. The 6’6’’ right-hander also finished with a 4-0 record with a 1.74 earned run average. He struck out 44 batters while walking only 16 over 31 innings.

Alexander was even more dominant in the post-season as he saved all three games for the 57’s with five scoreless innings over four games.

The Spring, TX native will now be pitching only a few hours from home with the Railroaders, who currently lead the six-team South Division with a 52-35 record.

Cleburne will visit the Sioux Falls Canaries on Tuesday.
