Cadillac’s Brooke Lang continued to be amongst the top Southwest competitors during the Wood Mountain Mountain Stampede on July 12-14.
Lang continued a strong season with a win close to home in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.71 seconds for $1,645. Shaunavon’s Haley Glasrud was fifth in 18.12 seconds for $787. Mankota’s Karli Cowie placed sixth in 18.15 seconds for $572.
Lang is now third in the Ladies Barrel Racing season standings, while Glasrud is eighth and Cowie is 15th.
Southwest cowboys were in on half the money-winning teams in Team Roping in Wood Mountain. Swift Current’s Chad Feil worked with Jared Pancoast (Cypress County, AB) to place second in 6.0 seconds for $2,862. Waldeck’s Scott McLeod and Taylor Wudrich (Bow Island, AB) were tied for fourth in 7.0 seconds for $1,788. Ponteix’s Wade Baker worked with TJ Loeppky (Central Butte) finished in sixth in 7.2 seconds for $1,144. Waldeck’s Tuftin and Tyce McLeod followed in seventh in 7.4 seconds for $715.
Tyce McLeod is the CCA’s leading Heeler in the season standings, while Tee McLeod is eighth.
Tuftin McLeod leads all Headers, while Feil sits seventh.
Mankota’s Kassidy Williamson placed second in Breakaway Roping in 3.0 seconds for $275.
Maple Creek’s William Perrin tied for top spot in Novice Saddle Bronc with 67 points for $210. Perris is currently third in the event’s season standings.
Tyce McLeod tied for second in Tie Down Roping in 9.5 seconds for $1.048. He is second in the season standings behind Mankota’s Shawn Williamson.
Kyle’s Kade Cheney had a 65-point ride to place second in Novice Bareback for $173. Chaney currently leads the season standings.
A pair of Southwest cowboys finished on the leaderboard in Saddle Bronc. Piapot’s Casey Bertram placed third with 70 points on My Maria for $459. Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist was fourth with 67 points on Mighty High for $344.
Casey Bertram is fifth in the season standings, followed by Gilchrist in seventh.
Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram tied for fourth in Bareback with 71 points on Red Ace for $263. Bertram is now third in the season standings.
Maple Creek’s James Perrin tied for fourth in Junior Steer Riding with 71 points for $148 and leads the event season standings.
Gilchrist added a sixth-place finish in Steer Wrestling in 7.5 seconds for $249. He is 13th in the Steer Wrestling season standings.
He is also second in the All Around standings, trailing only Colt Smith (Aldersyde, AB).
Tyce McLeod leads the Canadian High Point Award standings, followed by Tuftin McLeod in second and Shawn Williamson in third. Tee McLeod sits eighth, while Gilchrist is 13th.
The CCA is in the Southwest this weekend for the Shaunavon Boomtown Days Stampede on Friday and Saturday.
