Sonic win silver in Macklin

The U12 Swift Current Sonic had another solid weekend of ball at the Macklin tournament.

The Sonic started the weekend with a 16-12 come from behind win over the host Macklin Lakers. The second game of pool play was against the Lloydminster Liners. The Sonic had a solid game defensively, along with solid pitching, to come away with a 12-7 victory.

Their 2-0 record got them first place in their pool and a spot in the semi-finals. Strong hitting and aggressive base running led the Sonic to a 21-12 win over the Saskatoon Hustlers.

The Sonic then met a very good Kindersley Royals squad in the championship game. The final game was a back and forth game that required an extra inning to decide the title. In the extra inning affair the Royals snuck out a 12-11 win.

The U12 Sonic sport a 6-2 record in their two tournaments in preparation for the U12 South C Provincial Championships held in Leader July 5-7.
