18U AAA 57’s all even in the SPBL

The Swift Current 18U AAA 57’s split home and road double headers to move to 7-5 in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League over the weekend.

The 57’s put together three multiple-run innings in the Saturday opener to win 8-1 over the Saskatoon Diamondbacks.

Quinn Patenaude allowed only four hits and one run over 5.1 innings to lead the 57’s to the win. He also singled, walked, scored, and had two runs batted in.

Mac Gross singled twice, scored and added two RBI’s. Ethan Murdoch also had a two-hit day with one run scored. Nolan Klein doubled, walked, scored twice, and had one RBI in the win.

The 57’s made six errors in the second game and lost 15-5.

Patenaude singled twice, scored, and knocked home three runs. Murdoch double, singled, and scored in the loss.

Sunday, the 57’s returned to the win column with a 10-4 victory over the host SouthEast Twins. Jackson Fraser earned the win as he struck out nine over five innings while allowing seven hits and three runs. Kelsey Rokochy earned the save as he struck out four over the final two innings.

The 57’s knocked out 10 hits and walked 11 times to score 10 runs. Hunter Johnson led the 57’s with three hits, including a triple, two runs scored, and three RBI. Rokochy was all over the base paths with two hits, two walks, and two runs scored. Brody Alexandre was two-for-two with two walks, a stolen base, a run scored, and one RBI. Klein singled, walked and finished with three RBI. Mac Gross singled, walked three times, stole a base, and scored twice.

In game two, the 57’s fought back from a four-run deficit but lost in 8-7 walk-off fashion. Rokochy led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Cash Arntsen singled, walked, scored, and had three RBI.

The 57’s are on the road on Saturday to visit the Regina White Sox for a pair of games. They host the White Sox on Sunday for a double header beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Mitchell Field.
