Four Southwest competitors won their events at the North Battleford Kinsmen Rodeo on April 26-28.
Three Southwest cowboys finished in the top four in Steer Wrestling. Swift Current’s Travis Munro won in 5.2 seconds for $810. Kyle’s Chad Hantelman tied for second in 5.3 seconds for $607 and Val Marie’s Riley Hayes was fourth in 6.3 seconds for $405.
Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod was in the money twice for a second straight weekend, led by an 8.7-second time in Tie Down Roping to tie with Riley Warren (Stettler) for top spot for a $739 payday. Tuftin McLeod was right behind him in third spot in 9.1 seconds for $530.
Tuftin and Tyce McLeod also placed fourth in Team Roping in 10.8 seconds for $1,083. Val Marie’s Colt Kornfeld and Riley Hayes tied for fifth in 11.7 seconds for $541.
Maple Creek’s Logan Resch was out ahead of the field for a win in Ladies Barrel Racing in 12.97 seconds for $1,324. Cadillac’s Brooke Lang tied for seventh in 13.27 seconds for $201.
Kyle’s Kade Cheney tied for top spot in Novice Bareback with 72 points for $183.
Maple Creek’s Cassidy Gordon placed second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 13.07 seconds for $207. Julian Cox (Prince Albert) won the event in 12.89 seconds.
Swift Current’s Jeremy Dillon finished in a three-way tie for second in Saddle Bronc. He rode No Change for 75 points to collect $478. Piapot’s Casey Bertram tied for fifth with a 73-point ride on Dusty Day for $117. Lachlan Miller (Crossfield, AB) won the event with 76 points on Black Watch.
Consul’s Monty Koopman and Maple Creek’s Lane Link finished in a three-way tie for third spot in Bareback in North Battleford. Koopman rode Valley City for 71 points and $302, while Link picked up 71 points on Scary Mary.
Consul’s Zane Tully tied for third in Bull Riding with a 75-point ride on Spinner for $441. Maple Creek’s Brody Irwin was sixth after a 71-point ride on Sweeterbra for $157.
The next CCA event is the Brooks Indoor Rodeo on May 10-12.
