Broncos end road swing with loss to Blades

The Swift Current Broncos concluded a stretch of seven consecutive road games over 12 days with a 6-1 loss to the host Saskatoon Blades on Saturday.

After being shutout twice in a row by the Prince Albert Raiders, the Broncos snapped a lengthy scoreless stretch with a third period goal from rookie Matthew Culling, his 11th goal of the season.

Riley Lamb made 41 saves in a losing cause. Dorrin Luding earned the win with 16 saves.

Ryan Hughes led the Blades with two goals, while Kirby Dach, Kristian Roykas Marthinsen, Tristen Robins, and Dawson Davidson also scored.

The Broncos finished zero-for-three on the power play in their 17th consecutive loss. The Blades were one-for-three on the man-advantage.

The Blades have already secured second in the East Division with a 43-14-8-0 record. The Broncos dropped to 10-48-4-2.

The Broncos will host the WHL regular season champion Prince Albert Raiders on Sunday at 4 p.m. with only four games remaining in the regular season.
