Sauder joins Huskies Track & Field

Kalea Sauder will continue her track and field career at the University of Saskatchewan next season with the Huskies.

The grade 12 athlete has been a standout with the Swift Current Comp. Ardens for the past three seasons and has also represented her province at Westerns the past two summers. The Huskies announced her commitment on their social media accounts on Wednesday.

She was most recently at the 2018 Western Canadian Tri Province Championship in Sherwood Park, AB in July. The Swift Current native helped the U18 Saskatchewan team to a team title. Her top result was in the 4×100 Metre Relay where Team Sask C placed fifth in 54.18 seconds.

Sauder placed seventh in the U18 Long Jump with a top jump of 5.05 metres. She also placed 12th in the 100 Metre Dash in 13.71 seconds and in the 100 Metre Hurdles in 17.47 seconds.

Sauder was a double medalist at SHSAA Provincials in 2017 with silver in the 100 Metres and bronze in the Long Jump. She was the only Southwest athlete to represent Saskatchewan at the Tri Province Meet in Winnipeg in 2017.

Sauder also helped the Swift Current Comp. Ardens and Colts track and field team win their first team title at 2018 SHSAA Provincials in Prince Albert.
