Broncos make late deal

The Swift Current Broncos made one final deal prior to today’s Western Hockey League trade deadline, which passed at 4 p.m.

The Broncos shipped leading scorer Alec Zawatsky to the Moose Jaw Warriors for 18-year-old forward Tyler Smithies and two draft picks.

Zawatsky leads the Broncos with 26 points in 39 games played this season.

Smithies has three points in 19 games with the Warriors this season. He is a 6’1’’ centre from Beaumont, AB, who registered five points in 36 games last season.

The Broncos also receive a fourth round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft and a fifth round pick in the 2021 Draft.
