Broncos shut out for second straight game

The Swift Current Broncos ran into a dominant goaltender as they were shut out for a second straight game in a 2-0 loss to the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday.

Danish rookie Mads Sogaard made 48 saves in his first Western Hockey League shutout for the Tigers.

The Broncos played a decent first period with 16 shots on goal but trailed 2-0 when Ryan Chyzowski scored goals 5:13 apart.

The Broncos fired another 12 shots on goal in the second period and then 20 in the third period but were unable to beat the 6’7’’ Sogaard.

Joel Hofer made 28 saves on 30 shots to fall to 2-13-1-1.

The Broncos fell to 3-18-1-1 with their fifth consecutive loss. The Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak while improving to 10-11-1-2.

The Broncos are off until Saturday when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings in the fourth of five straight home games.
