Southwest competitors lead seven of 12 events after the opening day of the Canadian Cowboys Association Finals in Swift Current.

Junior Steer Riding – James Perrin (Maple Creek), score 71.

Ladies Barrel Racing – Jordan Fitzhenry (Coaldale, AB), 12.54 seconds.

Junior Girls Barrel Racing – Logan Resch (Maple Creek), 12.89 seconds.

Tie Down Roping – Cody Rood (Bengough), 10.2 seconds.

Bull Riding – Chanse Switzer (Hazenmore), score 83.

Novice Saddle Bronc – Kaden Paton (Carnduff), score 61.

Novice Bareback – Blake Link (Maple Creek), score 72.

Novice Bull Riding – Colt Kornfeld (Val Marie), score 76.

The CCA Finals resume on Thursday at 1 p.m. for the Novice and Junior events, followed by the main performance at 7 p.m. at the Innovation Credit Union iplex.
