Saskatchewan headed to National championship game

Three Swift Current Minor Baseball products will play for a national championship with Team Saskatchewan after a 10-0 win over British Columbia in the semi-final at the Baseball Canada 15U Boys Ray Carter Cup Championships in Oshawa, ON on Sunday.

Brody Alexandre, Ethan Murdoch, and Kelsey Rokochy were all in the line-up as Saskatchewan cruised to a fifth consecutive win, outscoring their opponents 51-10 along the way.

Nipawin’s Kyle Froehlich threw a five-inning shutout, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out nine.

Rokochy doubled, walked, stole a base, scored twice and knocked home one run out of the nine-hole.

Murdoch finished with a single, a walk, and scored a run. Alexandre had a sacrifice fly and one run batted in.

Saskatchewan will face Ontario in gold medal game this afternoon.
