Three Swift Current natives led Team Saskatchewan to a pair of lopsided victories at the Baseball Canada 15U Boys Ray Carter Cup Championship in Oshawa, ON on Thursday.
Brody Alexandre, Ethan Murdoch, and Kelsey Rokochy were all major contributors as Saskatchewan outscored two opponents by a 24-4 margin on the opening day of the tournament.
Saskatchewan opened the national championship with a 10-0 win over Newfoundland and Labrador. Alexandre walked, stole two bases, and scored a run out of the clean-up spot. Murdoch hit sixth and walked, stole a base, and scored a run. Rokochy walked, stole a base, and scored two runs as Saskatchewan outhit their opponent 11-1.
Saskatchewan added a 14-4 win over Manitoba in the afternoon. Alexandre doubled, scored twice, walked, and stole a base.
Murdoch singled, stole a base, scored, walked, hit a sacrifice fly, and finished with one run batted in. Rokochy needed just seven pitches to strike out the final two batters of the game.
Saskatchewan will continue the round robin on Friday against Alberta and Nova Scotia. They will conclude the round robin on Saturday against New Brunswick.
