Southwest cowboys won four events at the Boomtown Days Stampede in Shaunavon.

Six of the top eight entries in Team Roping had ties to the Southwest. Maple Creek’s Tanner Jones worked with Taylor Wudrich (Bow Island) to win in 6.5 seconds for $2,235. Swift Current’s Blaine Oddan and JC Davies placed third in 8.3 seconds for $1,652. Val Marie’s Riley and Ryan Hayes placed fifth in 9.0 seconds for $1,069. Waldeck’s Tee and Scott McLeod followed in sixth in 11.9 seconds for $777. Swift Current’s Keith Folk paired with Jesse Van Marion to place seventh in 12.2 seconds for $486. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson and Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer rounded out the money winners in eighth spot in 12.5 seconds for $194.

Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram won close to home in Bareback with 76 points on Detroit City for $548.

Riley Hayes also produced an event win at Boomtown Days when he topped Steer Wrestling in 5.0 seconds for $835. Kyle’s Chad Hantelman was third in 5.6 seconds for $547.

Consul’s Zane Tully won Novice Bull Riding in Shaunavon with a 67-point effort for $215.

Lancer’s Chad Hartman placed second in Bull Riding with 81 points on Quags Back for $660.

Three Southwest cowgirls finished in the pay window in Ladies Barrel Racing. Mankota’s Karli Cowie was second in 16.95 seconds for $954. Hazenmore’s Barbara Switzer finished fourth in 17.09 seconds for $667. Maple Creek’s Taryn Parsonage rounded out the money winners in eighth spot in 17.19 seconds for $95.

Two Swift Current cowboys were amongst the top five finishers in Saddle Bronc in Shaunavon. Timothy Costello tied for second with a 76-point ride on Dusty Day for $522. Jeremy Dillon tied for fourth with 75 points on Warners Taken Chances for $279.

Val Marie’s Wyatt Hayes added a sixth-place finish in Tie Down Roping in 18.1 seconds for $130.

There will be five Canadian Cowboys Association rodeos over the August long weekend, including the Herbert Stampede on August 3-5 and the Reno Rodeo in Consul on August 5-6.
